I used the morbid collection for 3.8 and I'm glad to see it's been continued over to 4.0 :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you just use the 'inherit' selection on the CMS for your template to be shown in the CMS and Blogs?
Your template works fine in the CMS and Blogs on my forum?
