Give Thanks - a festive Thanksgiving forum style
by Ohiosweetheart

3 Attachment(s)
Fall is here, and Thanksgiving (my second favorite holiday) is right around the corner.

'Give Thanks' features -
  1. Many original images
  2. a Thanks button for those who use the Post Thanks mod
  3. Separated forum categories
  4. XHTML 1.0 transitional

Installation Instructions
  1. Download the zip file to your computer and extract it (I put it on my desktop, it's easier to remember where I put it!).
  2. Open your ftp client to your server. Go to your forum's images folder, open it, and create a styles folder.
  3. Next, upload the thanks folder via FTP to your server, into the styles folder, so that your image path is images/styles/thanks/buttons, for example.
  4. After you've uploaded the folder, open your admin control panel on your forum, and import the xml file, by going to Styles & Templates > Download / Upload styles > Import Style XML File.
  5. Click on the Browse button, locate the thanks-style.xml, and double-click it so it loads in that box, then hit the Import button.
The zip file contains a 'blanks' folder where you'll find a blank header and buttons, all in PNG format, for easy editing. No PSD's are available.

Don't forget to click "mark as installed" for support!

If you have any questions, just holler.

Enjoy! https://www.vbulletin.org/forum/

thanks for ur reply

Ohiosweetheart 20 Oct 2008 19:33

formula_z is correct, alax, but it's hard to explain this.

If you'd like for me to take a look, I'd need admin access to your forum.

Ohiosweetheart 22 Oct 2008 23:50

Actually, you have 6 styles installed, and all but 2 of them have a display problem.
Try uninstalling the xml file, and import it again.

That's something that you will have to do yourself, or have someone else do for you. A blank button is in the Blanks folder.

PM me your admin login and I'll try to find the problem. No guarantees, since you're having the same issue with others' styles as well.

alexchairman 25 Oct 2008 13:57

There is no solution ............. what happen admin & Mod ??????????

Sunflower2007 25 Oct 2008 14:54

I can't get it to work on 3.7.1

Ohiosweetheart 25 Oct 2008 15:21

It's designed for 3.7.3. But, I'd need details to try and help.

There's no solution because I can't figure out what is wrong. You have issues with styles other than mine, as well. I have no idea what to do because I don't know what the problem is.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

alexchairman 25 Oct 2008 16:12

Thank's for reply Friends .

Any one there to help me ?

Quarterbore 30 Oct 2008 22:06

In your AdminCP >> Forums & Moderators >> Forums Manager you can edit your forums.

Your problem is that you have these forums at the top level (no parent) of your forums so edit your forums and select a "Parent Forum" for each one. Simply create a parent forum and set that partent as a "CATEGORY" by setting "Act as Forum" to NO!

Some styles require this to look correct and it will make life easier for you if you try to establish special permissions for parts of your site. Now, I didn't reconfigure my site to verify this is your issue but it looks like that is your problem to me too!

Thank you!

HI

I have same thing happen like this http://chairmanmobiles.com/forums/im...yles/error.JPG

please any one tell me how to do forums under a category any please help .. :)

Ohiosweetheart 13 Nov 2008 13:12

You have to set up your forum with categories and forums for most styles to work right.

To do this -
  1. login to your admin cp
  2. scroll down to Forums & Moderators > click on Forum Manager
  3. If you already have forums set up, You'll need to create a category, such as Community Forum or General Chat, or whatever you want. When you get to Act As Forum, select NO. This makes it a category.
  4. To move forums to that category, Make sure you select the name of that category where it says "Parent Forum".
  5. Save
  6. To add a new category, under Forums & Moderators in the left column, click on Add New Forums.
That's it.

mac27 14 Nov 2008 00:16

Great work Ohiosweetheart as always!

That's not enough of a screenshot for me to even guess what you're talking about. A link to your site would help a whole lot.

PHILIPS-08 15 Nov 2008 15:35

oopeeeees sorry about that.....

here is the link :>> *****

Ohiosweetheart 15 Nov 2008 17:32

ok, you still have to go through each of the forums and make that category a parent forum of each forum.

imported_pmay68 15 Nov 2008 18:10

Might also help if you put your images in the right area.. So they will show up :) Or are you currently working on it so they do not show up purposly?

PHILIPS-08 16 Nov 2008 00:57

https://www.vbulletin.org/forum/external/2008/11/41.jpg

Each forum i moved to category but still not working look that screen shot please ????

Ohiosweetheart 16 Nov 2008 02:35

I'm looking at the screenshot. I've never seen that problem before, so I have no clue what the cause would be. If you want to pm me with admin access to your admin control panel, I'll take a look and see if I can figure it out.

PHILIPS-08 16 Nov 2008 03:08

ok i will do that check your pm please :)

you completely misunderstood what I said. Most of your forums are marked as forums, with no parent category. Styles will not display correctly like this. Plus you didn't have the subforums set up to display correctly. I fixed that setting. I also fixed a category and changed settings on 3 forums so that they display properly in that category. You'll have to take it from there yourself.

You have to have a category, then group forums into the category. I really don't know how to explain this any clearer, as I'm not good at explaining things anyway lol.

BTW - you also don't have the images uploaded correctly. which is why they're not showing.

PHILIPS-08 16 Nov 2008 07:49

i got it now thanx alot mate ...... I really appreciate your quick replies and help ... :)

wolfstream 16 Nov 2008 10:06

Excellent theme, only one problem in my opinion:
The header image is not clickable to bring you back to the forum home. Easily fixed:
In the header template, look for

Block Disabled:      (Update License Status)
Suspended or Unlicensed Members Cannot View Code.

and change to:

Block Disabled:      (Update License Status)
Suspended or Unlicensed Members Cannot View Code.

Like I said, a very simple fix. I don't plan on changing the header image at all, so this works perfect for me. Thank you so much for the time spent doing this!

Ohiosweetheart 16 Nov 2008 16:54

Thanks for the tip, I'm glad you like the design. I purposely don't link the header back to the forum, because some people don't like it. I don't, personally.

Also, in that example you have the header aligned center. It should be aligned left in this style ;)

Chance4Today 18 Nov 2008 03:15

Thanks Sweetheart you do good work as always ;)

Hrrm, showed up as left to me both ways, not sure why it doesn't center properly, but you're right that center should be left.

I'm currently running VBulletin 3.74 and this skin won't work. Is there a way to change something to make it work?

Works fine with 3.7.4. Define "does not work". Some sort of an example would help ;)
I know it works with 3.7.4 because I'm running it there myself, right now.

lstintxs100 24 Nov 2008 00:38

Thank you.

gator777 26 Nov 2008 19:56

Thanks for the theme Ohiosweetheart :D
