Question about Moderating member's posts
by blastme

I understand to have a member's post moderated you have to have a user group set up to where you check off for the posts to be moderated and that the member(s) that you want moderated have to be in that user group.

Is there another way that a member could have their posts moderated ?

TIA

If you have Akismet or Typepad enabled in AdminCP > Settings > Options > Spam Management, then that could moderate the posts also.

Thanks, went into spam management but found I could only choose between Akismet or Typepad.

Would not make all member's posts moderated ? or can you choose what member to have their posts moderated. How does that work ?

Is there any other way ?

Thanks again

It will moderate all the members who meet the criteria of the settings below on that page.

There is no other way to only moderate a certain user's posts, or a certain few specific user's posts except to put them in their own usergroup and moderate that usergroup.

All I am seeing is:

Quote:

1) Spam Scanning Post Threshold

This setting controls how many of a user's posts will be scanned by the Anti-Spam Service. Once a user's post count exceeds this threshold, his or her posts will not be scanned for spam content. To always scan posts set this value to 0.

2) Anti-Spam Data Storage Length (Days)

Whenever a post is made, extra anti-spam data is stored. This allows details about false positives and false negatives to be submitted to the chosen anti-spam system to improve it.

This value controls the length of time (in days) for which this data is stored.

Are there suppose to be other settings as not sure how the above could be set to moderate posts by members ?

I am not very technical on this stuff

TIA

Those are the only settings. It will only scan, and possibly moderate, posters wilth X amount of posts (set in 1)

Is there a way were where you can set *new* member's posts to be moderated until they reach a set number of posts ? If so do they have to be in a usergroup where posts are selected to be moderatated ?

Also is there a difference between vbulletin 3 and 4 for setting up members to be moderated . ?

TIA

If you want a user's posts to be moderated, the MUST be in a usergroup where posts are moderated. You may then set up a promotion where after xxx posts, they get moved to another usergroup where posts are not moderated.
