I've tried both the sponge and the towel. I tested it by chucking an egg and cleaning it right off. When I try to clean it with just the paint on it won't come off. She could be playing a joke on me and uploaded her avatar with the paint on it, but she seems to have eaten her bowl of ***** flakes today. Heh...

Been noticing not just paint splatter, but certain member avatar's stay stuck with whatever has been thrown on them. It won't clean off either. I suspect it should go away if I uninstalled the mod, but I rather like it... any help? :D

hambil 08 Apr 2009 01:04

Are you using cache? If so what kind? What image system (GD or ImageMagick) are you using? How are you avatars stored? Are you noticing this on all types, or only ones that are external links, or stored in the database, or animated, etc...?

No cache system installed right now. Using GD. Avatars are stored in the database. The database is stored in another server though. No, not on all types of avatars. None of the avatars are using external links except maybe when first uploaded. No problems specifically with animated avatars either other than the items stops the animation until it's cleaned.

Fascinating. The information helps. Let me think on it a bit. I may need to poke around your board if that's okay.

I'm going to post another request for user options. I know you said to just make another usergroup but the easier alternative as a whole would be to have options in the members User Cp. Basically an On/Off option where they could either use it and get egged or not use it and not get egged. I am getting some complaints about it and with multiple usergroups already it just seems easier to have an on/off option for the member to choose.

I personally feel like it defeats the purpose. It would be like letting a user decide you can't give them reputation.

Actually, I don't think it will solve your problem either. Users who don't want to be egged will turn it off and be happy, but users trying to egg them will get an error saying "This user can't be egged" and be mad.

I think perhaps the best solution is to provide a 4th item type. Good, Bad, Clean, and Protect. So a user could throw say a plastic sheet at their own avatar that would project them from the next x number of eggs thrown (cost depending on how many eggs it protects from).

nascartr 08 Apr 2009 03:48

Ah, I don't use it for that anyway...it's just for fun to 90% of my members. Only about 10% don't like it.

That's a pretty good idea actually. How would I go about doing that or could you code it to do that and possibly without the use of credits, just have the option of how many to protect from when adding the item.

Hmmm... the avatars are clean now. Maybe my browser cache was all whacked out? Anyway, yeah I'm experiencing an issue like nascartr with a few people hating the mod while the majority like it. I think I'll turn it on only for special occasions and holidays. The first being kinda obvious, Easter hehe, and then get creative with the other holidays like fireworks for the 4th, eggs again for Halloween, and so forth. Here is a great free icon site where you can get stuff to throw.

http://www.iconarchive.com

The 32x32 sized ones fit best.

So I'll spare you for now hambil. I really doubt you'd want to visit my site anyway. Thank you for this eggxellent mod. Sorry, couldn't resist. :D

Sounds like all the files didn't get updated properly. Make sure you upload all the files and overwrite the existing files. Either that, or you've got a conflict with another mod. It's a strange error.

Don't have that one installed. Last night people were using this Mod heavily, first time. This AM, I couldn't clean the eggs off avatars, said it was already cleaned.

sometimes it says your avatar is clean when its not

is that a bug, or something. just thought i would let you know. great mod though otherwise. but my members get annoyed with that sometimes.

I believe it to be a bug of sorts, I'm trying to decide how to deal with it. The issue is that I modified it so users have to see the eggs on their avatar before they go away. You are trying to clean avatars that haven't been viewed by the owner yet.

Either way, the error message should be clearer, if nothing else. I will fix it, I just need to think it through.

I know you will. What;s interesting is it was working perfectly last night . Nothing changed other than it was being used more.

hambil 08 Apr 2009 16:32

Being used more means it was being used on avatars of people who haven't logged into see the results yet probably. Hence, bring the bug to light.

that's true. My AV was hit with 4 eggs sometime last night. When I awoke, I tried to clean it and could not.

When I log out they are there (generic ones)

Also sometimes I cant throw towel and clear avatar, but now I cant produce same error again.... it looks ok !?

I can see that you are very bussy with this hack, hope you will have time to point me for this issue that I got...
Thanks for hack

Getting some strange display errors, that users are only saying is happening from Firefox. It's not happening in IE, so i'm wondering if this is a cross browser display issue.

Attachment 97469

The box containing the stuff to throw and all that is appearing in a seperate box below the proper table, rather than actually in the intended table. As said it's only happening in Firefox.

This is using the default template, no custom changes have been made to the addon by me.

I believe it was working fine in the last version, before this latest update.

glen290 09 Apr 2009 13:03

Just installed this on my test forums, looks pretty good, will install it on my main forums over the weekend..

OcR Envy 09 Apr 2009 13:12

This doesn't seem to auto parse on my memberinfo template. Most like because it's highly customized.

Can I get the exact URL change so I can manually update it?

hambil 09 Apr 2009 14:36

To all having issues:

Make sure you are using 2.3.1. Make sure you have upload and overwritten all the files. Make sure you have reverted any of the [tk] Egg Avatar templates you've changed before you upload the xml (with overwrite).

Make sure your image path is correct. Make sure you don't have optimization turned on unless you are using vB Optimise.

It's been a day and a half and I cannot reproduce any of the above problems on either of my two boards, so I'm going to need some help, and some login info.

Sorry should have been more specific. The avatar image is still the normal one not the one that includes the eggs etc.. The post you referred me to seems to be about the placement of the link image. I tried anyways no change.

This is done in the postbit_display_complete hook by replacing the variable $post['avatarurl'].

I would just like to add a suggestion for a future release. The ability to have this fun mod be able to be turned on/off in a particular forum(s) section. Like say where you setup the individual forum properties you could add a radio option for on/off functionality.

This way we could have the egging ability in let's say "The Silly Forum" and some of the more "stiff" members who may not appreciate the mod wouldn't be visiting that section of your board anyway. Thus having a pacifying effect with them. Think aboot it, eh? :)

Bulldog Stang 09 Apr 2009 18:34

Everytime I update this, I have issues with my avatars not viewing. I uninstall it and reinstall it and have to go back through the many usergroups that I have and edit all of the settings.

Right now, my avatars are not viewing at all. I dont know why. I love this hack and so do my members. I am just frustrated after every update.

When you update, all you do is overwrite the new files through ftp right ?? Then import the new one correct ??

Bulldog Stang 09 Apr 2009 18:53

I just removed all the files that were uploaded as well as uninstalled the hack. I re-installed the files and uploaded the product. I went to the usergroups and edited all of the settings. I have also rebuilt all the custom avatars.

I still can not view my avatars. Any help is greatly appreciated.

There is never a reason to uninstall the mod unless I specifically say you need to for some reason. Just overwrite. Then your permissions aren't lost.

As for the avatars going away, I've figured that out and will have a fix up in a few minutes. Thank you goxy63 for the use of your test board to reproduce the issue.

Just installed for the first time.

Had a problem with animated avatars = got the square block.
When I copied and pasted the URL for the image and error was produced.

convert: -layer was unrecognized.

I edited the class_eggavatar_image.php file - line 210 and removed

-layer Optimize

Therefore leaving an empty ' ' - this work nows.

It should be layers with an 's'. Odd that it works fine on mine ImageMagick. Try changing it to layers anyway and let me know.

I hope you can figure it out because I sure can't, does it display correctly for you when you visit the site? I've even switched themes with no luck.

Different problem - your problem is a display bug in the drop down, which I'm still struggling with. The post you quoted was dealing with an issue specifically with ImageMagick.

my first download was 1.2.3and everything was perfect- when I updated to 2.2.2 is when the problem hit.

Having the same issue, in Firefox 3.0.5. Our entire forum is built around FF so would really appreciate a fix too

They won't expire until the user logs in and sees them.

UncoderMom 11 Apr 2009 02:59

I am logged in. ITs my avatar. LOL been logged in on and off all day and they are still there. Also getting the "This avatar is already clean." notice when I try and clean it. Its dirty but says its clean. Same eggs from early today.

Other users are having issues with cleaning them too, I try and it gives me the same thing it gives them. BUT if I throw something fresh at them and then throw a towel the avatar gets cleaned. weird.

Also I noticed if you throw an egg and then quick reply you cant throw another egg until you refresh the page.

Thanks a Whole lot, 2.3.3 fixed the pop-up issue for firefox 3.0.8. thanks for a great hack and for taking the time to make it all happen.

UncoderMom 11 Apr 2009 03:42

Okay... I just upgraded to 2.3.3 (just noticed from the pp that there was one).

The FF issue is almost fixed LOL Just the sponge and towel are outside the box with transparent background.

I was able to clean my avatar too. Not sure about the fading yet.

I can also egg, quick reply and egg without refreshing page :)

So, so far... just the pop up still being a little off on the cleaning options! :)
