It's quite unlikely it was done from the outside, unless an older version of vBulletin was being used. The hacker may have had a reason to only do certain things rather than trash the whole...

I had to do that once as well ;) Luckily I don't use ICQ any more (use Trillian instead) so I don't have to worry about their program messing things up and taking too many resources.
