Hello Everyone

This little mod, is great if you want to incorporate news feeds into the vbAdvanced CMPS

There is the one Prerequisite: I use the freeware version of carp,
but, if you have another aggregator you can modify this mod to use your own

Carp
http://www.geckotribe.com/rss/carp/

you can download the free version here:
http://www.geckotribe.com/rss/carp/docs/download.php

Install Instructions:
http://www.geckotribe.com/rss/carp/docs/install.php

within the zip file is an instruction.txt file that should explain everything.

Demo:
http://www.tech-unity.com

Update:
updated instruction.txt file in the zip to comment on the carp path

Installed and working 100%

Noticed in the php file you have not stated that the following needs changing as well to the correct path:

<?php
require_once "/home/techun/carp/carp.php";
Needs to be the path of the new user not the path to your site.

Thank you, glad you like

The person that created the Merlin setup, said he'll be releasing soon.

That was a couple of weeks ago, I'll ask him about it.

Remember though, anybody that wants it.
Only IE users can view the actual script.

I also only have it set up so Unregistered/Not logged in users can see it

You're very welcome Tom!! It's praise well deserved!

And in case anyone wanted a different image for the news.gif, one of my members made these two for me, so I thought I would post 'em here to share with anyone who might want a choice (NO offense meant on the original, AT ALL! Just figured if someone wanted a choice, they could have one The background has been changed to match my colors, but should be very easy to change to match any forum - if anyone wants/needs a transparent version, just yell!

Happy and a healthy new year to you as well! May it be full of many more wonderful hacks from all of you wonderful, generous hackers!

I cant imagine why it would not work with vbindex, but I have not played with it, so I dont know how the templates work.

As far as other portals, pretty much the same, you'll have to play with it.

Please let me know though if you get it working, as I am curious.

Just for giggles, What do you plan on using this with?

In template.txt it refers to pages.php
