how can you protect your forum site? would .htaccess help?

if .htaccess will help, what kind of them?
do i have to open up .htaccess and edit it by putting some special code?
Please share how you are protecting your forum.

If you mean by a protection from anyone accessing the site must have a password, your host can do that via cPanel - Password Protected Directories.

However, I'm not sure what you mean, bots? etc..
Just a simple kid who has a knack for procrastination and tries his best to help one anothers.
