Troubleshooting
Server Requirements:
PHP 5

If you get an error:

Block Disabled:      (Update License Status)
Suspended or Unlicensed Members Cannot View Code.

Means that there is something wrong with your callback URL. Your callback URL must be where xd_receiver.htm is; so when you enter [callbackurl]/xd_receiver.htm into your browser you should see a blank page (not a 404 page not found error or anything else).

If you get a continues this means there is a javascript error. Make sure you've done all the template edits correctly (especially footer & navbar). Clear your cache and reload the page.

If nothing happens when you click the Facebook Connect button make sure your callback url domain is the same as you forum domain (the one set in your forum settings) - more specifically make sure that there is a www (or isn't) in both domains.

Many more features may be implemented in the future so keep checking for updates.

well it was the 2.0.3 version.

Upgraded to 2.0.4.

i believe you have to remove the changes that were made to the templates as well. they still make calls to facebook so disabling the product is not enough.

There is no on off button for this I had to disable the plug ins too, ive upgraded to new one now hopefully this bug will be fixed in case it needs turning off in the future
i made a style that had no FB Connect changes and made all other templates child styles. then when everything is fixed i move the child styles back to the parent that had all the changes.

just a guess but it sounds like one of your templates wasn't edited properly.

btw, it's a good practice to remove your user name from the full path to your directories when posting on public boards and stuff.

Upgraded to 2.0.4 but when I click "News-Feed Templates" now in the admin CP, I get this error:

Given that people have to choose a nickname they can still choose to hide their identity on the forum regardless of facebook settings. Only their facebook friends will know who is who on the forum - I like this.

I would like to see an option to participate, or opt out of using the facebook avatar. Using the facebook profile image should be optional, not forced. They choose to mask their identity by picking an obscure username and along with it might want to opt out of using their facebook profile image as an avatar.

Anyway - this is an absolutely fantastic hack and i love it. For now (until such option is available) can anybody share with me a way to stop my site using the facebook profile picture as an avatar? I wish to stop this for all users and just let it fall back to the forum default.

Thanks very much!

Hi, I've tested the functionality from the 'guest' side of things and everything looks great....

However, the existing member sign in with facebook doesnt seem to be working. it asks you to make a nickname, and i click the 'existing user' link.... sign in to the board and then I'm logged in. however there doesnt appear to be any integration at all. I dont get asked about stories when making a new thread / reply.

Is it likely I have done something wrong, or is anyone else havingm this issue?

Can a person upgrade directly from 2.0.2 to 2.0.4? Or do I have to upgrade to 2.0.3 first? Thanks!

Question feature Request!

I upgraded... It seems like this product has a lot of potential that hasn't been relized. It also has some short comings. Here's my laundry list of what i'd like to see.

1. Option to logout of facebook connect and associate the facebook connect login with a current vbulletin login.

2. There are lots of data that facebook can pass. I'd like to see an option to map this data.

3. Proxied email addresses can be requested from yahoo. I'd like to see this included in the dafult product.

4. Would like to be able to pull a person's facebook ID and map it to that.

5. Options to post to group threads would be nice.

6. Pull profile images and images from the image gallery into vbulletin and import/export images from vbulletin to facebook.

I think it has this already, but i cant get it to work. i am pretty sure it is supposed to be able to allow an existing user with a facebook login to associate accounts.

I have more then one facebook account. There's no way to change what account the vb member is using. That could be problematic in the future. People may delete accounts on facbeook or start new ones they want to use for a variety of reasons.

ok. I think this is going to be a recurring request. Until this is sorted I will have to uninstall the application.

Currently, there is no way to associate EXISTING MEMBERS with a facebook account - according to the mod description on .org it seems as though it should be possible - but it's not.

Steps to reproduce:-
1. Logout
2. Sign in with facebook connect
3. Dont choose a nickname, instead click on the existing user
4. Login to your board
5. We can now assume the vb account is facebook connected - NO ITS NOT

Maybe this is only a bug / problem on my board.

Can anyone confirm or deny the above to be true for them?

I associated my account with the facebook using the features already in facebook connect. When you first used Facebook Connect you get an option to associate it with your current account.

It's worked for three of my members who used it, and new members get new accounts.

This isn't a "bug" other than it appears you created a new account rather than associating it with your current account when you first used it.

I tried it on a test server and it works good for me. I connected with facebook and selected existing username.

Upon posting a message for the first time, its asks if this is to be published onto facebook etc, and it works.

Also, upon getting a private message or reply to threads, they show up in my facebook notifications.

It will be going live next week so I will report back, but so far it all looks good. The only thing I see is missing is that users could do with some options to turn on/off the notifications.
