I re-test you, same thread and same test parameters, and you're down to just under 5 megabytes now. There still exist several massive animated GIF images in signatures. There is only a tiny bit of improvement here.

many users had been remove their gif signatures .. the current cpu status is 33%

Yeah I'm just trying to get the pageload down out of the 8 megabyte crazy tree so we can see what is going on with showthread.php - which is the page his host says is causing all the server load.

Why don't you just take a look at them and scroll through them, options exist there for limiting signature images, avatars, uploads, everything.

In usergroup permissions you can limit the file size of signature images, avatar images, uploaded images, all images. You can also specify if animated GIFs are allowed at all or not.
