Detailed installation instructions and screenshots in the included pdf file.

Current Features

NOTE:
VBGooglemap 3.0.0 contains the vulnerability fix. Please upgrade immediately. Version 3.0.0. also contains all features from 2.5.X

As always you use modifications at your own risk.

VBGooglemap Member Edition 2.5.x brings you a lot of new features. Itís vital that you uninstall any previous version before upgrading/installing version 2.5.x.

Upgrading from version 2.5.0 is easier. Instruction are available in the guide.

As the uninstall function will not remove your googlemap data in the database but only the templates and files you can safely remove an older version. As a precaution you should always take a backup. This should be done on each major change you make to your bulletin board.

IF YOU ARE RUNNING VERSION 1.0.3, 2.0.X AND YOU CHANGED TEXT DIRECTLY IN THE TEMPLATES YOU NEED TO SAVE YOUR CHANGES AS VERSION 3.0.0. REQUIRES YOU TO UINSTALL PREVIOUS VERSIONS.

This has taken quite some work and still will take a lot more. Please give credit where credit is due. You cannot remove any notice without prior written permission.

Planned Features

Volume warning

high volume of users may slow down the load. Currently a load counter is included.

Languages

Thanks to Wachtmeister there is a German translation available to you all. Feel free to use it.

The translation will be updated on each new version.

Special

- Read the attached PDF for more information. The pdf is also included in the zip file.
- You'll need a googlemap key for your domain. Get your own key for your domain view http://www.google.com/apis/maps/signup.html for more information.
A googlemap key is only valid for a specific domain. You'll need a specific google account to create one.
All is explained on the googlemap link indicated above.
- Set the file permissions on the marker.xml file to 777
- The googlemap script can handle non-registered users. They will only see the main map and won't be able to enter information. This is reserved for logged in users (detected automatically)
- usergroup permissions are available in the backend
- To change location just drag the map while holding the left mouse key or by using the zoom and key functions on the left
- First time loading of the map may take a few seconds longer because of Google API hosting

I'd also like to know if anyone's gotten this working with vB4? I would gladly pay to have this mod adjusted...

I've been using it with vB4 for years, but I can't remember what I did to make it work...

Okay guys, have it working fine (from what I can see) on my 'in development' 4.2.0 site. I used the upgraded files here http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showp...&postcount=989 and it's working. Make sure you have the ‘Enable or disable the small map control’ set to ‘No’ so your markers show up, otherwise, works great.

It isn't centered, which I'd love to get a fix for, and I also would like to tweak the location/look of the 'dashboard' if anyone has any insight into that. I'm grateful to ckgreenman for the code update as, otherwise, I'd have had to start over or paid someone to figure this mod out. Awesome!

Well, as soon as I got it working, my map now disappears with the following message:

'Google has disabled use of the Maps API for this application. See the Terms of Service for more information: http://www.google.com/help/terms_maps.html.'

Anyone know what that's all about?

Google is using a different API now. The old V2 *should* still work.

NOTE: Anyone having trouble with markers not displaying.

Double check your header/headinclude for any javascript conflicts.

An easy way to check is:
In your vbgooglemapme template: with $header and $headerinclude. Add a random number to the variable to temporarily rule them out. IE $header1 $headerinclude1

Refresh maps page. If your markers pop-up, theres likely a javascript conflict.

From there, copy your headinclude page (or header) and narrow down the conflicting script. Once found, do a simple conditional to exclude execution on maps page.

IE <if condition="THIS_SCRIPT != 'vbgooglemapme'"><script blah blah></if>

*Ofcourse, be sure you dont need the excluded script to function on that page.

I have this installed and working OK on my VB 3.8.7. I had a problem with people entering the wrong information for the Image URL so I removed that field and don't use it.

My question is, how do I remove the "Image" tab from balloon that pops up on the map? I've read a LOT of the posts in this thread and I've seen where people have said that they removed it and I've seen several requests asking HOW it was removed but I've not found an answer to the question. Can somebody please help?

Here are the instructions to update the Google Maps API - https://developers.google.com/maps/d...ct13#migrating

I'm not a coder but will try working through this to see if I can get it back online. Seems like this will be a tedious process.

I glanced at Googles instructions for updating and it seems we'd need to get the new key and add it to the VBGoogleMaps settings, and then make some changes in the vbgooglemapme.php file as well as the "vbgooglemapme_display_map" template. I tried a few things but no luck so far.

My members love this mod too.. Hopefully Stony or someone else can get it fixed.
