[DBTech] Advanced User Tagging v3 (vB5)
![]() Developer Last Online: May 2020 ![]() ![]() ![]()
Advanced @User Tagging: What is it?
DragonByte Technologies is proud to present [DBTech] Advanced @User Tagging. The @user Tagging mod is designed to increase activity on your forum by allowing members to mention each other in posts when talking about them. This is done in a very easy way, very similar to how Twitter mentions people. We use @ ; as the tags, so for instance you could say: ---- This new mod from @Dragonbyte Tech; is pretty cool. ---- The "@DragonByte Tech;" Will become a link to the DragonByte Tech users profile, it will also inform DragonByte Tech they had been mentioned, and link to the relevant thread/post via a new area in the profile section, as well as a new tab in the shoutbox. It also allows members to "tag" the thread for specific other members by inputting their usernames in the tag box above the posts of the thread. This is a great way to increase your forum activity with no extra admin input required – people will start to mention posts/threads to their friends, which will increase the amount of posting. This is especially useful of forums which have an international contingent (so threads posted in during the night for some of your members don't go overlooked) or forums which have a lot of posts/threads each day – again to make sure that a post a person might want to read doesn't get lost in the crowd. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Priority support & Product Demos available at: http://www.dragonbyte-tech.com/forum.php ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Translations available @ our website Support for translations handled by the translator in its respective threads only. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Major Features Twitter-style @ "Mentions": Typing @username produces a "Mention" that will alert the user to your post, as well as link to their profile. Quote Alerts: Members you quote will be alerted, ensuring that discussions can continue smoothly even if they left the thread. Profile Integration: Displays number of Mentions, Tags and Quotes in profile statistics for quick overview of a member's total activities. Complete Feature List Lite Emails:

Advanced User Tagging v3.0.6 Alpha 2
Change: Now requires vBulletin Connect 5.0.2 to run Change: Reduced memory usage by reworking the way the mod caches things to take advantage of vB5's built-in long-term cache storage Change: Modules in the Site Builder are now grouped under the "DragonByte" category rather than the "Display" category Fix: Modules in the Site Builder now once again have titles Fillip

The new version fixes issues with the UserCP and other assorted minor issues.

I have installed but here is my feedback:
Instruction: Within the AdminCP, select Settings > Options > [[customize]]. Actual: DBTech - User Tagging appears between Settings and Styles & Templates on the left nav Instruction: Select Edit Permissions in the drop down menu. Actual: "Edit" is what you access to get to permissions Instruction: Scroll down the form, and you will find the section DragonByte Tech: Advanced User Tagging Permissions. Actual: No new permissions seem to exist to enable this. Result: I cannot enable this even for myself to test. No members have liked this post.

Also, and perhaps a result of the above issue, when I go under User Tagging > Forum Manager in AdminCP I have nothing listed except "Home".

The Lite version only allows per-category customisation of permissions. I'll have to investigate - it's supposed to show all the actual categories under "Forum" as you would see it in the Channel Manager.

I actually was only looking in permissions to enable for all.

There are no such permissions, it is already enabled for all users.
The Pro version has per-usergroup permissions to exclude users. Fillip

I assume there is no auto complete for completing names? I think that is what I was judging "it's not working" on.

Correct, with the knowledge I have today an autocomplete is sadly not possible.
It's something we really want to achieve, so during all feature updates to this mod we always delegate some amount of time to researching whether new vBulletin versions or new tricks I've learned may make it possible. Fillip

Although I also tried typing @{username} and nothing seemed to happen. The underlining didn't occur as I have it configured and the user didn't receive any notice.

I just tested it on my local dev board and I had no issues with it. Check to make sure the 6 APIs from Package: Dbtechusertag is active in the List Extensions interface in the AdminCP.
