Some of our most loyal customers / users requested it after they installed quite a few of our mods that appear on multiple pages, like Bounce there did

Since not everyone can afford a Branding Free licence, instead of telling people to suck it up we decided to provide a way for people to condense their footers to either a direct list of mods or one single link back to our site with the list of their mods displayed there.

That way, others who are interested in what mods a site runs still have a way of finding out which mods they want to try out for free

just curious why does this have to be linked to the db server couldnt you have a page within your forum that has all the links of what you installed your not getting rid of the links but just from the footer ...

The reason why it has to be linked to the DBTech server is so that it can fetch an updated list of modifications

Basically, this mod is a "set-it-and-forget-it" kinda thing, if you install it first and then install a new DBTech mod that we released a month later, within 24 hours the new copyright will be merged automatically without a need to install an update of this mod

when you install a mod without copyright management mod it automatically puts that link on the footer so what i am saying is why cant we have a page on our fourms that this does the same thing you click on details and it takes you to a page with all the links we have installed basically this is removing the links from the footer and cleaning it up but i would rather have a separate page on my forum still have the links and my users can click them as before as if they where in the footer

It's at least unfair (not say illegal) to include your copyright in pages that are not really powered from any of your mods. To include a copyright in a page, needs the page's output to contain your code. eg Why if someone has installed your Quizz mod why you're showing your copyright in my Classifieds, or Auction, or Reviews etc etc pages? The fact that there is your mod name before says nothing as you don't have the right to show any of your links in that pages.

In anycase, I'll appreciate if you modify your code and exclude your copyright for pages where "THIS_SCRIPT" has any of the values below:

• ads
• adsusercp
• adsmodcp
• auc
• aucusercp
• aucmodcp
• reviews
• revusercp
• revmodcp
• extrapages

Can I ask what laws you feel our copyright notices contravene? Placing a global copyright footer is in no way illegal.

Unfortunately trying to create rules that will exclude certain pages while not accidentally excluding others (for instance "ads" or "reviews" are very common words/scripts which may be used in modifications WE create as well) is not practical.

We inform users of the nature of our copyright links (e.g global) and they agree to these terms when they install our work.

If a user wishes to display a copyright footer on their own website on a page that happens to also display your work, they are well within their rights to do so. Please be aware that accusations of criminal/illegal activity are very serious and should not be made offhandedly in an attempt to damage our reputation. We would appreciate it if you refrain from such baseless and libelous accusations in future.

Please respect the right for webmasters to have any copyright footers they wish on any pages they wish.

sadly i dont like this mod i dont want to be linked directly to your site server there has to be something else then you can do to clean up the footer i mean i like the details link but i cant see why there cant be a page with all the links in it that i have installed by just clicking details and not going to your site ...

unless there is something that can be done different this mod wont get installed on my site unfortunately

The other option is to buy the Global Branding free mod from our site, that will permanently remove the copyright footer from all present and future mods we have released or will release

Nah thats ok i do know that is available and quite expensive just to remove your links

again you need to come up with a better alternative

In any case don't waste your time anymore. As long as you didn't said if it's fair or not (this was my original post), I'll follow your steps. Day by day I'll start releasing totally free mods like the ones that you're selling. In addition all will be brand free.

Community should be happy. What about you? Keep an eye in the new releases during this week.

If you really like their addons, but have an issue with their copyrights, purchase branding free?

I don't get what the problem is here.
