Flashchat integration with vBulletin 3.6

Note:
Standard Flashchat includes a version of my vBulletin integration as part of the Tufat supplied files - including a working vBulletin 3.6 CMS file. However, the standard files do not include Direct Usergroup Integration or other extra's like the WOL Display & Flashchat on a vBulletin page. This Integration Mod adds those features

Standard vB 3.6 integration features

* Authorised members are automatically logged in.
* Automatic login works even if a member has not ticked "remember me".
* All non authorised members are locked out (this and the above are based on usergroup membership).
* If enabled, Flashchat updates the users session location (displayed in various vBulletin online location displays such as WOL).
* Real ip detection when a proxy server is used (only if the proxy server passes on the details).
* Permanant, Private Rooms are loaded by Admins and Moderators (allows for Staff Rooms).

Extra's added by this modification

* Direct login to a room.
* The WOL will correctly display Flashchat as the location (not 'Unknown Location')
* Flashchat can be displayed embedded inside a 'standard' vBulletin Page (i.e. not full screen).
* Direct Usergroup Integration - a section is added to each usergroup in the ACP Usergroup Manager to set the Flashchat permissions for that group.
* The plugin will try to automatically add a link to Flashchat in your Quick Links or Navbar - this feature can be disabled if you wish.
* The automatic link can have a prefix path defined - useful if you use something like CMPS.

More notes:

* This integration is for Flashchat versions 4.7.x and above.
* The automatic link feature may fail if you have customised templates.
* For Flashchat inside a vBulletin page you need to link to .../misc.php?do=flashchat
* This modification does not add any links to Flashchat Administration in the ACP.
* You can set all members to login direct to particular room via the ACP.
* You can also add a room parameter to the url - i.e. .../misc.php?do=flashchat&room=3
* 3.56 onwards has extra code to cope with VBs CSRF protection, which interferes with profile linking (vb 3.6.10+).

The CMS file assumes that you are installing Flashchat in your forum root folder - this is the same folder as your usercp.php file and includes folder. Installation will fail if you do not do this.

Support: Please check the instructions, and make sure you have uploaded any files to the correct location - the vast majority of problems reported are due to an error made in editing or uploading files. If you are still stuck and want me to take a look then feel free to PM me your site address, an admin user, and ftp access details, without these I cannot help you. I will look when I have time.

Finally, I am not Tufat.com or Flashchat Support - if you have questions about Flashchat, their forums are here.

To use the this upgraded integration simply download and unzip the file, then follow the instructions in the text file. Once installed, the Flashchat userlevel options for each usergroup will appear in the ACP usergroup edit screens - editing of the CMS file will no longer be required.

Love this module, but...

Hi everyone. I'm a bit of a noob here, but I'm picking things up.

I've just installed this, but we want to change the page name from FlashChat to BlackChat in the breadcrumbs nav section so that our competition (who watches us like a hawk) doesn't know what modules we are using without really snooping.

And also the module page directly if possible.

ie misc.php?do=flashchat&room=1 to misc.php?do=blackchat&room=1

I hard coded the menu in NavBar so it says chat already, but these are making me scratch my head a bit.

Any suggestions?

The Navbar/Breadcrumbs can be altered simply by editing the phrase "Flashchat" - you cannot alter the links without quite a few edits of the actual plugin code.

I just installed Flashchat and this Integration mod. Everything is working fine, the way it is supposed to be, but I want to tweak it a little.

The chat opens within the forum, and I like that, but I want to make it so it opens a new window or tab when someone clicks on Flashchat in the navbar. What do I need to do to accomplish this?

Thanks!

Add target="blank" to the link code.

Have you checked the groups chat permission in the ACP?

yes, set to user level acess...

When this user wants so join, autologin fails, as like manual login...

would be pleased if there is a possibility to get this running... maybe reinstalling the plugin? Cause the group was created after installing the integration and flashhat...

When the group was created is irrelevant. You obviously have a setup problem somewhere.

question on installing mod

I have successfully installed Flashchat. I am now ready to install the integration mod. In the instructions it says to "upload the chat and includes folder".

My flashchat is the root of the forums directory in a folder named chat. Do these folders go into that chat directory, or the forum root directory?

Just not sure on where these get installed.

Thanks in advance!

You shouldnt be set up like that really. The chat stuff goes in the chat folder, the includes stuff in the vb includes folder, you will have to manually copy each seperately.

Bear with me here as I am new to all of this. Maybe I am using the wrong terminology.

My forum is located like this

www.####.info/forum

Flashchat is located www.####.info/forum/chat

I have installed the flashchat and it will let me log in. I am now to the point where I want to install your mod. This is where I get lost.

If I upload the chat and includes folder, where do I put it? If I put it in the /forum it will overwrite the existing chat folder, will it not? Is that what it needs to do? Also, where does the includes folder go?

It will not overwite the existing folder, it will just overwrite one file (as required). You copy the includes to the forum folder as well (where you should already have one, this copys a new file into it).
