From the makers of Smooth and Jazz comes the singing sensation my mom has been waiting months for:

AME3. Bigger. Badder. Bestest.

NOTE ABOUT vB4.0.3: ------------------------------------------------------------

vBulletin 4.0.3 has changed the way video codes are handled and in the process, inadvertently broke AME3. I have submitted a bug report and believe that the issue will be quickly resolved. There is a manual fix you can apply for 4.0.3 here in the interim.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AME3 is the sequel to the multi award winning AME 1x and AME 2x systems. AME3. This time, its different.
AME3 does 3 things:
  • It allows users to simply paste URLs into their message without having to use the video bbcode or video popup box.
  • It allows you to add, edit and customise the video definitions that ship with vB4
  • It allows you to import community created definitions to extend the system in ways you otherwise couldn't.
Now you can use AME anywhere you can use video bbcode: posts, blogs, visitor messages, the CMS, etc...

Note that I am releasing this early for beta testing and general feedback. There is currently a bug in RC2, RC4 and 4.0.0 that will prevent AME from working however there is a workaround posted below.

I have written a pretty comprehensive readme and attached it seperatly to this post. I suspect both this post and the readme will get updated as AME3 becomes finalised.

I get this one every reply since 4.0.4 :

PHP Fatal error: Call to a member function verify_db() on a non-object in ./htdocs/includes/ame_prep.php on line 29

Had to disable Quick Reply as because of the above it was giving double posts. Now it just goes to a error 500 instead (but successfully posts).

EDIT: Nevermind - my own fault here...

Edited: Actually, I take that back. I applied the fix mentioned here and it works perfectly now.

How did you fix this as I'm getting the same problem? The fix for 4.0.3 doesn't appear relevent anymore as it looks like a hook has been added.

Hey peeps.

Got a concerned email about concerns over the reusability of AME codebase and what my "plans" were for it. So i just wanted to make a quick note to clarify that I am no longer developing AME (or anything else for vB). I hope the community can (and will) make use of the various versions of AME to keep it alive. Please do me a favour and keep relevant credits where they are due - but otherwise run with it and keep the project alive.

I won't go into the reasons for my walk away from vB - it doesn't after all take a genius to put it all together.

Best of luck all. Thanks for the fish

I'd installed this - http://github.com/rcdesign/vb-foreig...aster/vb-ame3/ but not correctly (just did the one file product-ame.xml and not ame_prep.php).

Or the company. All we can do is speculate on why the user has chosen to leave, though.
It is, however, quite sad to see developers run off like this, for whatever reason, especially people who've backed vB with their code for years

Ugh say it isnt so.. Another one bites the Dust.. But with that said i do totally understand... Just wrote a long post about these things on my own forum.. My reasons to stick with vB are diminishing by the day...

Im going to guess that the reason he stopped is because vbulletin's new video system pretty much does exactly what AME does.

What vB needs to do now is make it easy to add additional definitions like AME does.
