Updates
==========================
1.0.0 - Initial release

1.0.1 - Bug fix update
This release addressed a couple of small bugs. Information on fixing
these issues can be found in the FAQ. (Included in this zip.)

1.0.2 - Bug fixes and new features
This release makes all games on the Arcade main page appear in the
order which they were installed, regardless of whether or not it has
been played. (With the newest games at the top.)
It includes a
page navigation system, allowing users to browse games by page. By default, 10 games appear per page.
There is also a new search feature, for finding games by name/description. (Accessible through the "Search" menu in the navigation bar.)
This release should be less CPU intensive than previous versions.

1.0.3 - Bug fixes
Security fixes

History & Hack Information
- So, what is the v3 Arcade?
The v3 Arcade is exactly what the name implies - an online games arcade that offers seamless integration with your vBulletin forum.

The v3 Arcade is the first of the new generation of vBulletin additions. Back from its roots, the v3 Arcade is the vBulletin 3 edition of my original Arcade written in late 2002 (not to be confused with futureal's 'ProArcade', which was written during the Arcade's beta phase).

v3 Arcade Features Include:
Integrated Flash gaming for vBulletin 3
Advanced leader board system
FULL Mozilla/Netscape Compatibility
Moderation abilities for Mods/Super Mods/Admins
PM & Email notification for events
Advanced statistics for all users
A higher level of security
"Arcade Challenges", 1-on-1 contests between users
Arcade awards system
Automated and manual score pruning tools

This installation comes loaded with the following games:
Tetris
Snake
Asteroids
Chopper Challenge
Space Invaders

If you have the source (.FLA) for a game that you want to use in the v3 Arcade, you can send the required files to john@v3arcade.com for conversion. (Providing permission has been given by the original author.) Within a reasonable delay, I'll post the converted game and installation script on vBulletin.org.

Testing
Tested on vBulletin 3.0.3, across multiple unhacked installations.

Thanks to...
Kura: For helping out with vB3 difficulties!
Erwin: Whose vB2 Flash Player inspired the original hacks
Paul Neave: For providing the source for 4 of the standard v3 Arcade games

IMPORTANT NOTES
If you do install this hack, please click on the INSTALL button. There are going to be some updates for this which you're really not going to want to miss!
Each Arcade page has an Eovie Interactive and Flash Player link at the bottom. This is optional, but greatly appreciated.
You may have noticed that this release of the v3 Arcade is not fully phrased. To phrase the arcade would require well over a hundred phrases to be added, making for a lengthy installation process! Futures version of the v3 Arcade will be phrased, with a more automated installation.
And don't forget - BACKUP BEFORE YOU INSTALL!

Regarding the "ProArcade"
There has been a lot of debate on vb.org recently about the ownership of hack "concepts". My original Arcade hack (on which the v3 Arcade is based), was a progression of the my vBTetris Leaderboard hack - both of which came about before the ProArcade. I've spoken to Erwin regarding this, and he can confirm that this has always been an independent development; hence the v3 Arcade was authorised for release.

Fixes
If you're installing the Arcade from scratch, there are no fixes or updates to be applied. Simply follow the instructions in Installation.txt.
If you've already installed the Arcade, make the changes in Updates.txt.

help please

I have no problem with any other area of the arcade. I can even change the game categories around in the "Game Categories" link in the admincp "Add Game Category" works too.

BUT when i click on the "game settings" in the admincp I get this ERROR

I have the correct names these are just x'd out.
xxxxxx = my prefix
xxxxxx_xxxxxx = database name

Database error in vBulletin 3.0.x:

Invalid SQL: SELECT * FROM xxxxxx_games A, gamescat B WHERE A.categoryID = B.categoryID ORDER BY gameid
mysql error: Table 'xxxxxx_xxxxxxx.gamescat' doesn't exist

mysql error number: 1146

Date: Saturday 05th of March 2005 03:27:29 PM
Script: http://www.xxxxxx.com/forum/admincp/...n.php?do=games
Referer: http://www.xxxxxx.com/forum/admincp/index.php?do=nav
Username: Me
IP Address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

do i need to modify that line of code?
There shouldn't be a . between the prefix and the table name. This isn't the only hack that has issues w/ prefixes. I wish someone could explain how to prevent issues like this.

I have like 800 games on my FTP all from that other FTP that has gone offline. Although I have a 100 MBit stand-up line and I think if I would publicly post the server here you guys would suck up my traffic pretty quickly. Please send $5 or 4 EUR by PayPal to chrissicom@sandrabullock.ws and I give you a private FTP account to access and download all the games with no bandwidth or speed limit :-)

It seems like everyone is in the business of trying to profit from selling access to copyrighted games now. This is software piracy, pure and simple, and of the very worst kind.

The moderators of this board should crack down on this practice immediately.... otherwise this could get very messy for all those involved.

Asking for $5 to download so many games is no profit! It's less than I pay for the traffic generated so I still loose money when I rech my bandwidth limit and too many people download the games. I don't even have a website up where I say contact me to buy games or anything like that! It's just on a personal basis. I study law in Europe and I know that this kind of business is not illegal over here, maybe in the US don't know their laws.

Charging to download ANYTHING that's not owned by you for ANY amount of money is illegal, and breaks various copyright laws (and I suspect international laws as well). Even if you don't make any kind of monetary profit from it by charging less than what it costs you to operate the server, you're still getting some sort of compensation by having the bill for your server be padded by these 5 dollar "donations".

If anyone needs the space, I have a webhosting account I'm not using that I can upload any and all games to. PM me and I'll get it going.

Maybe he's charging for a membership to his MSPAINT art gallery. The downloads are free...

(My point is that crying about that stuff is useless. There are plenty of ways around it.)

Completely untrue. Even under several open source licenses, you cannot simply repackage an existing product and attempt to generate any type of revenue from it.

That being said, anyone stupid enough to actually pay for something like this is as lame as they are stupid. Simply think of all of the ways that people share copyrighted material and look there if you were interested. But do not post messages about file distribution of copyrighted material for a finder's fee on a Jelsoft site and expect people that actually care about the well-being of this company to not give a damn.

People can be so lame. Charging money for games they don't even own.

If anyone needs a mirror for the files, I have enough bandwidth.

LOL remember that when you've got lawyers jumping all over your ass It's much easier to do the right thing, then you've got nothing to worry about if all hell DOES break loose.
