I have not enough time or interest in vbulletin to keep this alive. This addon provides a framework for future extensions which make use of the Steam API. It helps to determine the SteamID of an user. Unless older methods of inserting the steam id into a user field, the addon lets the user authenticate with Steam OpenID, therefore you can trust 100%, that this particular user is the same user as the Steam-ID provided. Users can link their Steam ID to their forum account or they can create a new account using details pulled from their Steam Profile. Like the Facebook connect plugin, it allows users to quickly set up a forum account without having to define a password or an email address. This option can be disabled in the AdminCP, however it is encouraged to allow users to use this quick-register feature, since they already authenticated themselves through steam, so any additional password or email authentication is just unnecessary. If the user decides to un-link his forum account with his steam-profile, he has to set up a password and email first, so the forum account remains usable after this. At the moment, the addon is in its second RC state, which means that the current versions contain mostly bugfixes and are candidates for a full release. Until now, the product worked without major problems in productive environments. Although it is stable as is, the author doesn't provide any guarantee. Due to the nature of the addon and how vBulletin manages 3rd party code inclusion, additional login and register methods have been provided by the plugin. It is discouraged to use the plugin on high profile communities in this early development state. If you have any further questions, feel free to post in this thread. Simple solution: Wait. Steam Community servers are overloaded/down right now, there's nothing you can do about it  Do NOT uninstall the mod if you want to keep the linked users records. Upgrading means uploading the new product xml file for the new version and choose "overwrite" in the upload dialog. The Installer will handle the update process by its own. Uninstalling the product will erase all the table fields which contain the steam link data. First of all thanks for the mod.
Everything is ok, except steam icon. I checked the "Add Steam Icon to postbit" is active, Steam Web API Key is ok because I can login via steam connection. And I added {vb:raw post.steamicon} manually. I am using vb 4.2.2 , what can be the problem for steam icon that cant be seen? No members have liked this post.

Are you sure everything is correctly set up and the product with all its plugins is active? If you check the source code of your forum and search with STRG+F, can you find any hints to this html snippet?

- your provider blocked certain posts/php functions/curl which is needed to fetch the steam api data - your disk is full - harddrive failure - cache directory not writable - cache directory not set up properly in the settings - steam api blocked your ip - steam api blocked your api-key (maybe too many requests? Have a big forum?) Does this get you anywhere?

The installer checks for the file functions_steamconnect.php in the includes directory. Please make sure it exists, is readable by the webserver and is properly uploaded. (not empty)

Disasterpiece, the fetching issue was caused by "timecreated" in the additional fields. It appears to be no longer working.

I think what he really wanted was the mini profile not the icon
Steam Mini Profiles (For Steam Connect) by Disasterpiece http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=266884 I never used the icon am using the GamerCards Block in Profile Sidebar and Postbit http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=232033 I was hoping someone could modify it to work with this but seems SteamCard only uses your Steam name so the mini profiles wouldn't work with your Steam ID or Numbers... There are other SteamCards out there was hoping someone would have made one to be hosted on your website like the Steam mini banner is cached...

this mod works fine with 4.2.2
Installed without a hitch and I logged in with it without issue. Steam mini also works just as well as it does on the 4.1.9 Futuremark forum I admin at. granted it is only a test server and no members to test it but for me it worked as it should. No members have liked this post.
