Lets say someone posts a link to on your forum, recommending a new product. This script will rewrite it so if any one who clicks that link and goes on to purchase something from you will be entitled to some commission.

Development of this product is ongoing and future versions will introduce new features such as:
  • Server-side rewriting of links
  • Redirects via your own domain
  • API integration
  • Full control of your ProfitBite control panel from within vBulletin (once the API is released)

So you condone the sending of email spam so long as it promotes

As above, it's clear that the emails did not come from, but it sets a dangerous precedent to allow email spamming which directly promotes mods.

In the meantime, I've received the updated spam email pushing this mod, and indeed it does not include the link - but I think it's very bad show on the part of that you are seen to support such behaviour.

It does not matter whether vBulletin condones the sending of email spam or not, they cannot stop the guy, but they can prevent him from posting links to as they have done. If he continued they could graveyard his mod.

I see no precedent and obviously they cannot control it, so suggestion they support it is silly.

I am not sure why you are whining here... report it to your ISP and have their IP address blocked. Tell them to remove you. I am sure they will oblige.
