No! I have this issue too. BUT! Exactly the same issue, only appears when I open in the browser vbwonders_install.php file, AFTER installing the product Product_vBWonders.xml in the admin panel.
Itself product is installed without error as many times as desired )))

@Guardian Hope, just remove vbwonders_install.php and install from admin panel new Product_vBWonders.xml product.

Marco, your mistake is just that you have not added for the correct update instructions...

Looks like you've a modifications conflict

Yeah. Then I dissable FractalizeR: Show items, awaiting moderation in notifications area, looks like everything work fine. On what moment, I comment string #168 in Marco.Notifications.php and have both mods working.

Yeah, I gave up on the vBWonders Mod simply because it does not work and was likely released way to soon. My issue arises when you run the XML file - not the installer which isn't actually capable of properly interacting with MySQL.

I'll pay DBTech for hashtag support. I support coders and designers but this has to be the one coder that will stand out to me the most and not for good reasons (see the final PM I sent the author):

I was going to write a rather long and drawn out message about how problematic your modification actually is after I had an IT team with far more experience than you or this other vBulletin Coder you were going to speak to about this but than I realized that you are unwilling to accept that your modification is faulty.

Even another user reported the same thing and I had a team of 27 people test your mod out on a fresh installation of vBulletin on an EC2 instance just for the sake of testing it out.

You're the author: it's up to you to do whatever you want but the reality is your modification doesn't properly interact with MySQL.

Take with that what you will but I am done. I have revoked your FTP access and restored the database to remove any damage you may have done because vBulletin was actually reading the correct tables and was not at fault.

I typically support coders and developers but you really should adjust your attitude as well. Given our series of PMs it told me that you had absolutely no idea what you were doing the moment you entered our environment. You, I cannot support.

This is the end of the discussion.

Although that last line is from the PM it still holds true. Install this modification at your own risk but you better make sure you have a usable backup copy of the database because this modification doesn't interact with MySQL properly.

I would avoid it at all costs and go for the paid versions that this tries to circumvent. Although we all have to start somewhere I will never download such a modification (one supposed to be extremely advanced) from a first time developer.

Be careful. This mode(hashtags from DBTech) only supports with UTF-8. If you use another charset, you will have one more not working hashtag feature...

Yeah, I always encode in UTF-8 since it's virtually the "universal language" of the internet.

I too used a development forum for testing this modification out and then I used another server entirely (from bare metal at SoftLayer to virtual at AWS) and got the same results.

As I said, this could be a top modification but given my correspondences with the modification's author I don't hold out hope for this mod to be anything more than a headache.

I've kept this mod tagged and am watching the thread in case things start looking up for it but I definitely believe I'm just going to get the plugin from DBTech. It's a small price to pay to not have headaches.

The enterprise environment which this site is deployed to is unique and I was willing to give leeway that the governor for SQL was interfering but the AWS instance was pretty much standard RHEL with cPanel installed and it ends in the same disaster.

I really hope the author of this mod goes back to the drawing board and fixes the issues because if he [or they] did that this mod would definitely jump to the top as a "must have."

The maintenance of the big projects are not so easy and this is the first version of the product, Bugs are possible for sure. vBWonders is a project contains about 18 feature which make the maintenance harder than the other modifications (The small one feature modifications) these modifications are so easy to maintain as they are just few lines of codes!

However, I'd like to say WAIT FOR THE NEXT VERSION it will fix all of these problems.

I will state that I enjoy this mod, but it does seem to have a few issues. One is that, unfortunately, having it active causes my forum to 'double post' if one uses the 'quick reply' function of Vbulletin. Turning off this Mod solved that issue.

Is that something that will be fixed?

You have two options: disable the plugins/hooks system from config.php and than uninstall the modification as you normally would (since it is now just an XML and hope the XML acts right). Than re-enable the plugin/hooks system from config.php.

Option two is more drastic but I've found it the one that I still have to do with this modification: restore the database to a previous version that didn't have this modification installed.

You can either do that through the server shell (SSH) or via phpMyAdmin by finding the vBulletin database and dropping all its tables. Than simply re-import the database backup that you made prior to installing this modification and vBulletin will be working like nothing ever happened.

Please note, if you are inexperienced with interacting with databases should you choose option two, I would advise that you find an experienced member willing to help you out. vBulletin.org nor I will be held responsible for loss of data, business, etc.

vBWonders: Out of curiosity, I wonder if your issues are stemming from MariaDB which, while it is a "drop in replacement" for MySQL, does still indeed function a little differently.

I remember when you were trying to help me the errors it specified in the install script you created specifically for me referenced MariaDB driver errors at the top and not MySQL database errors.

It might be something to look into. MariaDB is the future and we use it in all our deployments; not sure about everyone else.

It's just the start, We've so many other features in the next versions

The double post issue is a conflict with other mod, Please PM me for troubleshooting.
