FOR UPGRADE AND FRESH INSTALLATIONS!

1) upload the 'upload via ftp' folder

functions_post_thanks.php -> \includes\
cpnav_post_thanks.xml -> \includes\xml\
hooks_post_thanks.xml -> \includes\xml\
post_thanks.gif -> \images\buttons\ (and into EVERY "buttons" folder in every style you have)

2) Import product-post_thanks.xml into PRODUCTS. Allow Overwrite "YES" (admincp -> Plugin System -> Manage Products -> [Add/Import Product])

All of those files need uploading via ftp, its the contents of the of the upload folder that need Ftp'ing to your forum directory so up to public_html\forum or to www.\forum where forum will be the name of your forum folder. You don't need to place anything anywhere yourself, FTP is intelligent uploading and follows the structures laid out in both the upload folder and the destination folder.

You only import the product_postthanks.xml (or whatever the name) via the forum admincp.

7.88 appears to work with 4.2.5, however, you have to open product-post_thanks-7.88.xml and change maxversion to "4.2.6" or it will fail the dependency check and won't install.

Open XML post thanks file via an editor like notepad++
In the first lines, you see dependencies lines. Change the related value to 4.2.5 (max-version or version)

Yes. Use PHP 7.0, this will fix the error.

I have exact the same error, yesterday I update to PHP 7.1 and I have the same issue.
Only its possible solved this downgrade to PHP 7.0?
