Can I use vB4 with Mariadb?

Hello,

I want to move from MySQL to Mariadb for my vbulletin 4, can I use vB4 with Mariadb? and does it have any problems for my forum system if I switch to Mariadb?

Thanks in advance.

Yup works perfect. It is a drop in replacement for MySQL. If you use cPanel there is an option to upgrade to MariaDB in the options or have your host take care of it for you. I have done it on a few sites and it works great. No issues at all.

Thanks Kevin for your info!

I will try it out.

I heard most of people said that Mariadb is better than Mysql, but could find reasons why.

Why we should use Mariadb for our sites at this time? are there any better alternatives to Mariadb or Mysql?

vb4 works fine, but you can get conflicts with several addons, that don't support mariadb.

mb maybe is faster, but not 100% compatible with mysql. when you're coding your own stuff it's something else than using lots of modifications that were originally written for another software.

in my opinion it isn't worth it, too much trouble.

As far as I know it works perfectly fine with vBulletin right out of the box.
MariaDB is an exact clone of MySQL with improvements to it.

It should work fine with the latest versions of vB4.

In fact, apart form a few minor oddities, it will work with any version.

Thank I also forgot to ask this and it's thing I am caring.

If some Mods that don't support completely mariadb then it can be a problem.

No but MariaDB uses the exact same PHP libraries as MySQL and they support the same engines, I don't see why it wouldn't work?
