UPDATE
sid's [hide] hack 0.3.5

Hi again,

I've tried my best to build a [hide] hack that will fit to to
the wonderful POST THANK YOU HACK

but for sure you can use it without, then it'll work if user replies to a post with hidden content

You can coose in acp to show hidden content to admins mods or users of a certain usergroup (if you have useradmins or something) too.

It will show up some hint that will let your users know what to do (thank, answer, or even nothing)
by now with some small text, soon with a set of images

BUT
  • my english is way off what I want it to be, so please go ahead and edit the language file to your needs

NOW UPDATED

Thanks to Andreas of vbhacks-germany
  • no hidden content visible in archive
  • no php edits necessary no more
  • kicked out bitfield-code

    and further
  • no hidden content visible in printthread.php if not in showthread.php
  • now with a set of small images showing up as hint
  • and least updateurl in acp
have fun

cheers
'sid

ps Sorry for updating that fast

UPDATE 0.3.0
uninstall previous version before installing the update!
So, here's what you've all been waiting for *grin*
Tha ajaxified version of my hide hack.

BUT, this is rather bruteforcing ajax, so be warned
First: you could fully disable ajax for this script in ACP!
Now how it goes, it checks the length of pagecontent every three seconds (usersides, no worries about serverload here), and if it finds some new "content" like a filled thanks-box or a new post it calls all the posts that have hidden content (of this page only of course) and tries to refill the postbits,
this causes some sql-queries, almost as much as to totally reload the page itself.
AS soon as I find a more elegant method I will update again.
Nothing else was changed though since 2.6, only modified in handling the ajax-request.
If you encounter any problems with the ajax of this script, just deactivate,
no javascript at all then will be loaded from this script, and you'll have a "normal" version in hands.
(size is due to an pic-install-help-image )

UPDATE 0.3.5
reduced querys,
smarter installations code.

that's all

cheers
'sid

PS If you encounter any problems not seeing thanked posts hidden content after reload,
try this codechange

Check in your custom bbcode settings, the "use {option}" should be set to "yes"

well i learned to use the [hide] tag, but it doesnt seem to work right... i imported the xml into my language and had to ignore the version it was meant for... when i click thanks on the post, the content inside of the tags are not revealed... i have to reply to the thread, and then click thanks before i can see the hidden content.

I'm sorry for being offline such a long time
My Reallife ripped my a...... wonderful day it is, isn't it?

So, let me try to get you all a working hide-hack

qqqqw,
Just upload any image you find suitable to images/editor of your forum, then add that image at ACP->Own vB Codes ->[<EDIT>] hide in the filepath to image field like so : images/editor/ed-hide.gif
and safe, you're done
(ed-hide.gif you'll find in post #74 of this thread:
http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showp...0&postcount=74)

LILMORA4,
please go to ACP->Own vB Codes ->[<EDIT>] hide and the click on save without the need of editing anything.

ammoskumar,
I'm sorry threadid whilst installing my hack???
Never heard of such......
The only query that's beeing called whilst installing my hack is an entry for the Own vB Codes section.
Maybe I got you wrong

graziano,
well, this hack IS NOT OPEN SOURCE in the GNU sense of words, so please keep in mind that I do not support edits that I do not have made myself.
I do not like my hacks being edited other than a language conversion..
Thank You.

chatplace24,
you're welcome

aranthorn,
nice thought, but it should be set to "NO"
it's all that hitting the save button again
(I have no clue about that bug...)

nir,
Well, seems to me like
a) you do not use my hack
b) you've edited around
please uninstall my hack and reinstall with a fresh download and check again.
[EDIT]
wow, maybe that's an issue with the RTL style, I cannot test at this very moment,
because I do not have any testing area.
I'll try to set one up to make sure it is NOT RTL...
nevertheless, please try a reinstall in the meantime

corbis,
exactly! if you do not upload any editor-image you'll have to type the tag manually
(that's the way I like it aha aha *sing along*)
But feel free to upload ed-hide.gif to the images/editor folder of your forum then
follow the instructions I just gave to qqqqw

Did I missed someone?
please ask again

thanks alot for your patience

'sid

I got this problem when installing the product:

Database error in vBulletin 3.6.8:

Invalid SQL:
INSERT INTO bbcode(bbcodeid, bbcodetag, bbcodereplacement, bbcodeexample, bbcodeexplanation, twoparams, title, buttonimage) VALUES (NULL, 'hide', '[hide]{param}[/hide]', '[hide]some text[/hide]', 'With this tag you can hide some text and force members to answer or click the thank you button to see what you\'ve posted.', 0, 'hide', '');;

MySQL Error : Duplicate entry 'hide-0' for key 2
Error Number : 1062

What can i do?

Uninstall the other hide-hack!

'sid

ps those errors are not so difficult to read
all that matters is: Duplicate entry 'hide-0'
That is the other hide-hack you have installed.

And because you cannot call the same custom vb Code twice with two different hacks it'll cause an error if you try to do so.

easy go to ACP -> vBulletin Settings -> Text: vBCode [hide]
there you'll find an inputbox to enter comma seperated Usergroup-ids which to show hidden content to without doing anything.
(see 6th picture in first post, second inputbox is what you're looking for ; sorry for german version)

is it possible to insert hide tags into the existing "insert link" button, so all links by default is hidden?
or is there any other way to do this?
