Opinions on Upgrading from vB4 to vB5

I've read a lot of opinions on this topic over the years that caused me to stay far clear of vB5.
Nothing really from 2018/2019 however.

What's the Speed Test Solitaire essay writer general opinion of vB5 now and with the release of 5.5.5?
Is it far improved from its versions of 2017 and prior?
Are there pros and cons that I should know about?

Let me hear the general consensus.

Unless you're using a large number of modifications there's no good reason not to upgrade to vBulletin 5. It's built on modern coding standards with modern security and responsive design. It allows you to do things using modules that are built-in rather than using third party modifications for a large number of functions. It has its own API. While it's possible to make vBulletin 4 (and even vBulletin 3) work the code they use is deprecated and so are the PHP and SQL versions they require.

The biggest downside to upgrading is going to be members who dislike change. But they get over it rather quickly in most cases.
